Bond Of Dreams, Bond Of Love by Yaya Sakuragi (BL/Mature):

Synopsis:

Young Ao attempts to follow a tradition by going to the Shinto shrine 100 times for worship, without being seen, so that his wish for his grandma to be healthy again can be granted. Unfortunately, he is seen by Ryomei- a ‘priest’ from the shrine. Fast forward to being a teen, Ao has an overly stimulating dream about Ryomei that completely changes the way he feels about him, causing him to start acting rather directly about his feelings. Ryomei on the other hand has always cared for Ao and has considered him to be someone special to him, so is quite shocked at this change. In an attempt to develop this bond with Ryomei and to be more than just close companions Ao tries everything he can to express himself but will this change their relationship for the better or worse?

Review of Volume 1:

First off, it does turn dark pretty quickly, and when I say dark I mean it gets very sexual very fast ( ͡❛ ͜ʖ ͡❛). Ao’s high school character isn't like the usual uke because he’s both a physically and mentally strong character who has had his fair few relationships. He is also very forward with his thoughts and feelings, which was quite surprising to see compared to the stereotypical portrayal of a uke. I love the relationship between the lead characters, they are extremely lovable and I like how Ryomei is very mindful of Ao. Ryomei is a nice and kind seme, different due to being the less dominant partner and instead more reserved. Something to beware of is the age gap, as they have a fairly large one which isn't uncommon in romance manga. There are a few spicy scenes but nothing crazy like some BL reads, so I would say it is rather on the PG side, therefore it has a major focus on the development of their relationship instead.

Overall thoughts and feelings:

The storyline itself is quite fast-moving as Ao is very forward so he gets straight to the point causing the story to move quickly. However, other than the difficulty in being honest about their feelings there wasn't actually anyone or anything that caused a major dilemma such as another side character creating a divide in their relationship. I enjoy stories where we aren't quite sure if the main couple will end up with each other (possible side character involvement) but in this, it is fairly obvious the direction it is heading in. I loved the personalities of the main characters -not having the typical seme and uke is interesting. There are a total of four volumes, of which I have only read one and I’m not sure if I will continue reading this one any time soon due to being behind on reading so many other mangas, manhwa and webtoons - but overall I would say this manga is a good 6/10. Anyway, I will see you next week (hopefully) for the next manga review (•◡•) /
